The current staff includes eleven individuals, the first four of which are amongst the five founding members of the association:
- Pr. Achille P. Raselimanana, President, and Professor, Department of Animal Biology, The University of Antananarivo. His fields of interest include herpetology, including systematics, biogeography, ecology and biological evaluation as well as study of environmental impact. Responsible for courses on reptiles and amphibians biology for second year students as well as biogeography, ecological monitoring and ecomorphology for master level students.
- Dr. Marie Jeanne Raherilalao, Scientific Member, ornithologist, Chef Editor of Malagasy Nature, and Professor, Department of Animal Biology, The University of Antananarivo. She has interests in ornithology including biology, ecology, systematics, biogeography, biological evaluation, and the study of environmental impact. Responsible for teaching of bird biology for second year students as well as evolutionary biology and biodiversity evaluation, especially terrestrial vertebrates for master level students.
- Dr. Voahangy Soarimalala, Scientific Member, mammalogist, coordinator scientific of Vahatra, Curator, Museum Collection, Department of Animal Biology, The University of Antananarivo, and Professor, University of Fianarantsoa. Her research interests include mammals, especially small mammals and carnivores which includes systematics, biogeography, ecology, biological evaluation and environmental impact study. Responsible for teaching ecology and animal systematics for first and second year students; biodiversity conservation and valorisation for third year students.
- Dr. Jacquis T. Andonahary, Botanist, Geographic Information Specialist, Geometician, and responsible for the ecological restoration project at Ambohitantely. Jacquis co-presented his Ph.D. at Université d’Antananarivo and Université de Genève (Switzerland) in late 2016. He is the principal coordinator of the Ambohitantely restoration project. Since 2011, Jacquis has joined the Vahatra field team on numerous field expeditions and recently has become a core member of the association.
- Pr. Steven M. Goodman, Scientific Counselor, as well as Lecturer, Department of Animal Biology, The University of Antananarivo and the University of Mahajanga. His fields of research interests include several domains such as mammals, bats and birds. He is particularly interested in biology, ecology, systematics, biogeography, paleoecology, etc.
